Root Canal — Save Your
Tooth. End the Pain.

Modern root canal treatment is nothing like its old reputation. With rotary instrumentation, digital X-rays, and effective anaesthesia, most patients describe it as no more uncomfortable than a routine filling.

Signs You May Need a
Root Canal

These symptoms suggest the pulp (nerve) inside your tooth may be infected or dying. Early treatment saves the tooth. Waiting makes it worse — and more costly.

Severe, lingering toothache
Pain that doesn't go away after the stimulus is removed (especially cold) — a classic sign of irreversible pulpitis requiring root canal treatment.
Sensitivity to hot foods & drinks
Extreme sensitivity to heat that lingers for more than a few seconds often indicates irreversible nerve damage — unlike cold sensitivity, which can be reversible.
Swelling of gum or face
A swollen, tender pimple on the gum or facial swelling near a tooth indicates a dental abscess — a spreading infection that requires urgent root canal or extraction.
Darkening / discolouration of a tooth
A tooth that has turned grey, brown, or noticeably darker than its neighbours may have a dead or dying nerve inside — even if there's no pain at all.
Pain when biting or touching the tooth
Pain triggered by biting pressure — especially if it was previously painless — can signal inflammation around the tooth root or a cracked tooth extending into the pulp.
Deep decay or broken tooth
A large cavity that reaches the inner pulp, or a tooth broken in a way that exposes the nerve, requires root canal treatment before it can be restored with a crown.

Root canal procedure at Supreme Elite Clinic

Rotary Endodontics

Engine-driven nickel-titanium files clean and shape the root canals faster and more thoroughly than hand files — with greater accuracy in curved canals.

The Procedure

What Happens During
Root Canal Treatment

Modern RCT is a straightforward procedure when performed with the right technology. Here's exactly what we do, step by step.

1

Diagnosis & X-ray

Digital periapical X-rays confirm the infection extent and root anatomy. In complex cases, a CBCT gives us a 3D view of root canal morphology before treatment begins.

15 minutes
2

Local Anaesthesia

Effective local anaesthesia is administered. We use topical numbing gel first so you won't even feel the injection. You should feel no pain during the procedure.

5–10 minutes
3

Access Opening & Pulp Removal

A small opening is made in the crown of the tooth. The infected or damaged pulp tissue is removed from the root canals using rotary instruments and hand files.

30–45 minutes
4

Canal Shaping & Irrigation

Canals are progressively shaped to the correct taper and irrigated with antibacterial solutions (sodium hypochlorite + EDTA) to eliminate bacteria and debris thoroughly.

20–30 minutes
5

Canal Obturation (Sealing)

Cleaned canals are filled with gutta-percha and a biocompatible sealer to prevent re-infection. The access cavity is sealed. For single-visit RCT, this happens the same day.

30 minutes
6

Crown Placement

A root-canal-treated tooth is brittle. A crown — zirconia or porcelain — is strongly recommended to protect it from fracture. Fitted at a follow-up appointment.

The Truth

Root Canal Myths
vs. Reality

Root canals have an unfair reputation. Here's what the evidence actually says.

Myth
"Root canals are extremely painful"
Fact
Modern root canal treatment under local anaesthesia is rated as no more painful than getting a filling in most clinical surveys. The pain you're feeling before RCT — from infection — is far worse than the treatment itself.
Myth
"It's better to just pull the tooth"
Fact
Saving your natural tooth is always the preferred option. Extraction leads to bone loss, shifting of adjacent teeth, and the need for an implant or bridge — all more expensive than a root canal and crown combined.
Myth
"Root canals cause illness"
Fact
This myth originates from flawed 1920s research that has been thoroughly debunked. Modern root canal treatment relieves infection — it doesn't cause systemic illness. This has been confirmed by decades of peer-reviewed research.
Myth
"The tooth will be dead after RCT"
Fact
The pulp (nerve) is removed, but the tooth remains alive — it's still nourished by the surrounding bone and gum tissue. With a crown on top, a root-canal-treated tooth can last a lifetime and function completely normally.
Our Equipment

Technology That Makes
RCT Comfortable & Precise

The right technology is the difference between a difficult, multi-visit root canal and a comfortable, single-session procedure.

Rotary Endodontic System
Engine-driven NiTi files shape canals consistently and efficiently — cutting treatment time and working better in curved canals than hand files alone.
Electronic Apex Locator
Precisely measures the working length (depth) of each root canal electronically — reducing the need for multiple X-rays and ensuring files don't go too far.
Digital Periapical X-ray
Instant, high-resolution digital X-rays with 80% less radiation than conventional film — taken chairside for immediate diagnostic accuracy at every stage.
Ultrasonic Irrigation
Ultrasonic activation of irrigants ensures thorough disinfection of complex canal systems — eliminating bacteria in areas that files and syringes alone cannot reach.
Common Questions

Root Canal FAQs

Answers to the most common questions about root canal treatment.

Under modern local anaesthesia, most patients feel no pain at all during the procedure — just pressure. Post-treatment soreness for 2–3 days is managed with standard paracetamol. Most patients are surprised by how comfortable it is compared to their expectations.
Most root canals at Supreme Elite Clinic are completed in a single visit (1.5–2 hours). Complex cases with severe infections or multiple canals may require 2 visits. A crown fitting appointment follows 1–2 weeks later.
RCT at Supreme Elite Clinic starts from ₹4,000 for a single-canal tooth (front tooth) and ₹6,000–₹9,000 for multi-canal teeth (premolars and molars). A crown on top costs ₹4,000–₹12,000 depending on material. We provide a complete quote before treatment begins.
With proper crown protection and regular dental check-ups, a root-canal-treated tooth can last a lifetime. Studies show a 95%+ survival rate at 8 years for teeth with a crown following RCT. The crown — not the RCT itself — is the critical factor in long-term success.
For back teeth (molars and premolars), a crown is strongly recommended — these teeth take significant chewing force and are at high risk of fracture post-RCT. For front teeth, a crown is often optional if the tooth structure is largely intact, though still advisable for long-term protection.
