Zirconia dental crown
Most Popular

No metal allergy risk
Ideal for bruxism
E-max lithium disilicate crown
Most Aesthetic

E-max (Lithium Disilicate)

Pressed glass-ceramic that mimics natural tooth translucency better than any other material. The gold standard for front teeth and the smile zone — indistinguishable from real enamel under natural light.

Porcelain fused to metal crown
Budget-Friendly

Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal (PFM)

A metal core fused with a porcelain exterior — the traditional workhorse of crown dentistry. Strong and durable for posterior teeth, with a natural white appearance. A dark line at the gum margin may appear over time as gums recede.

₹6,000 per crown · onwards
Most affordable
Lasts 10–15 years
Strong metal base
Good for back teeth
Fixed dental bridge replacing missing tooth
Missing Teeth

Fixed Dental Bridge

A non-removable solution for one or more missing teeth. The teeth on either side of the gap are crowned and a false tooth (pontic) is suspended between them. Restores chewing ability and prevents neighbouring teeth from shifting.

₹15,000 3-unit bridge · onwards
No surgery required
Lasts 10–15 years
Fixed, non-removable

How It Works

Your Crown Journey
Step by Step

From consultation to final fitting — here is exactly what to expect at Supreme Elite Clinic, Kelambakkam.

1

Consultation & X-Ray Assessment

We examine the tooth, take X-rays to check root and bone health, and confirm the crown is the right treatment. If a root canal is needed first, we will advise you before proceeding.

2

Tooth Preparation Under Anaesthesia

The damaged tooth is shaped under local anaesthesia to create space for the crown. The reduction is minimal — typically 1–2 mm — preserving as much healthy tooth structure as possible.

3

Digital Impression & Shade Matching

A digital or traditional impression is taken and sent to our ceramic lab. We record your exact tooth shade so the crown blends perfectly with your natural teeth.

4

Temporary Crown Placed Same Day

A temporary crown protects the prepared tooth while your permanent crown is crafted — typically 7–10 days. You leave the clinic with a fully functional tooth.

5

Permanent Crown Delivered & Fitted

The permanent crown is tried in for shade and fit, adjusted as needed, then permanently cemented. We check your bite from every angle before you leave.

6

Review & Long-Term Monitoring

A 2-week review confirms comfort and occlusion. We include the crown in your routine 6-monthly check-ups to ensure the margins stay sealed and the bite remains balanced.

Why Choose a Crown or Bridge

Protect, Restore &
Rebuild Your Smile

Crowns and bridges are among the most versatile restorations in dentistry — saving teeth that would otherwise be lost and replacing those already gone.

Saves a Tooth That Would Otherwise Be Lost

A crown is the last line of defence before extraction. It encases a cracked, broken or heavily filled tooth, holding it together and restoring full biting force.

Prevents Costly Future Treatments

Capping a compromised tooth now avoids extraction, bone loss and the expense of implant surgery later. A crown is always a more affordable first choice than replacement.

Instantly Improves Appearance

Discoloured, misshapen or heavily filled teeth are completely covered. The crown is shade-matched so precisely that most people cannot tell which tooth was restored.

Restores Full Chewing Ability

Patients often live for years with a painful or broken tooth, unconsciously avoiding that side. A crown restores normal, pain-free function so you can eat what you enjoy.

How to Keep Your
Crown Lasting Longer

Crowns are durable but not indestructible. These six habits protect your restoration and keep the margins sealed for decades.

Brush & Floss Daily

Pay special attention to the margin where the crown meets the gum — plaque buildup here leads to decay of the underlying tooth. Use a soft brush and floss gently around the crown base.

Avoid Hard & Sticky Foods

Ice, hard candy and sticky toffees can dislodge or chip a crown. Hard nuts and crusty bread are fine in moderation, but biting directly on ice or very hard objects risks cracking even zirconia.

Wear a Night Guard

Nocturnal bruxism (tooth grinding) is the single biggest cause of premature crown failure. A custom night guard distributes forces and protects both the crown and the opposing teeth.

Do Not Use Teeth as Tools

Opening bottles, tearing packaging, or biting fingernails puts lateral forces on the crown that it was not designed for. A simple habit change protects a significant investment.

Report Sensitivity Promptly

Mild cold sensitivity for 2–3 weeks after crown placement is normal. Persistent pain, bite discomfort or a feeling that the crown is "high" should be reported — adjustments take less than 5 minutes.

6-Monthly Check-Ups

Routine appointments allow us to check the cement seal, examine for receding gum margins, and professionally clean around the crown. Early intervention keeps small issues small.

Common Questions

Everything You Want
to Know About Crowns

PFM crowns start from ₹6,000, zirconia crowns from ₹12,000 and E-max crowns from ₹15,000 per tooth at Supreme Elite Clinic. A 3-unit dental bridge starts from ₹15,000. Final pricing depends on the tooth location, material chosen and any preparatory treatment needed. We provide a full itemised quote with zero hidden costs.
A standard crown requires 2 visits — one for tooth preparation and impressions (with a temporary placed the same day), and a second visit 7–10 days later to fit the permanent crown. You leave the first appointment with a temporary crown protecting the tooth. The second appointment is typically 30–45 minutes.
The procedure is done under local anaesthesia so you feel no pain during treatment. Mild sensitivity for 2–3 days after preparation is normal and managed with over-the-counter pain relief. Once the permanent crown is cemented, most patients report no discomfort at all. If you feel pain after a week, contact us for a quick review.
Zirconia and E-max crowns typically last 15–20+ years with good oral hygiene. PFM crowns last 10–15 years. Longevity depends on oral hygiene, diet, and whether you grind your teeth. Regular 6-monthly check-ups help us monitor and maintain your crown — we will alert you well in advance if replacement is approaching.
A dental bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by anchoring a false tooth (pontic) to the healthy teeth on either side (abutment teeth). The abutment teeth are prepared and crowned, and the pontic is suspended between them in one solid unit. It is cemented permanently — not removable — and restores both bite function and smile aesthetics without implant surgery.
A crown is used to restore a tooth that still has a viable root. An implant replaces a tooth that is missing entirely or cannot be saved. If the tooth can be saved, a crown is always the first choice — it is quicker, less invasive, and more affordable. If extraction is necessary, a dental bridge or implant are both excellent options, and our dentist will advise based on your bone density, health, and budget.
Yes. After the permanent crown or bridge is cemented, you can eat normally. We advise avoiding very hard foods (ice, hard candy) and sticky foods (toffee, chewing gum) as these can dislodge or chip a restoration over time. A balanced diet with no such extremes is perfectly safe — most patients are pleasantly surprised by how natural a crown feels.
